Bella Hadid Talks Stepping Back From Modeling And Her Battle With This Disease: ‘I’m Not Putting On A Fake Face’
Bella Hadid has worked her way up to superstar status, but the supermodel now thinks it's time to focus on her mental and physical health.
"After 10 years of modeling, I realized I was putting so much energy and love and effort into something that, in the long run, wasn't necessarily giving it back to me," she said in an interview with 'Allure.'
Over the past year, the 27-year-old has taken an "unofficial" step back from her modeling career to focus on her health, opening an entirely new chapter with her new beau Adan Banuelos, who is a horseman.
The fashionista, who recently celebrated the selling out of her new fragrance 'Orebella', spoke candidly about battling Lyme's disease, which is liable to cause muscle aches, extreme tiredness, and problematic immune responses. Lyme disease is an illness caused by borrelia bacteria, spread to humans from the bite of a tick carrying the bacteria, according to the Mayo Clinic.
According to 'Allure,' she claims the last few weeks have been rough and describes the process of her healing as "a roller coaster" and not "linear."
"Just as I have styled myself for years now — which I still do — I love being able to do my own hair and makeup, be happy with how I look, and get ready with my girlfriends here in Texas," Hadid said.
"For the first time now, I'm not putting on a fake face. If I don't feel good, I won't go. If I don't feel good, I take time for myself. And I've never had the opportunity to do that or say that before," Hadid, 27, said.
"Now when anybody sees me in pictures and they say, I look happy, I genuinely am," she continued. "I am feeling better; my bad days now were my old good days."
She also detailed her new fragrance line, which she describes as a family business, "A new era of skin-nourishing fragrances", claiming the Orebella scents "elevate mood, energy, and aura."
Since launching on May 2, the brand has gained over 200K followers on Instagram.
