King Charles Joked About Having Prince Harry Searched To Ensure He’s Not Taping Conversation, Royal Expert Claims
King Charles joked about having Prince Harry searched before he decided not to see him, according to a royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex announced that his father would not see him while he was in London for a special service to mark the Invictus Games' 10th anniversary. Prince Harry said that His Majesty had a "full program." However, Tom Quinn, a royal commentator and biographer, suggested that the King was probably concerned about their conversation getting recorded as he allegedly joked about it.
"When King Charles heard his son was planning to return for the Invictus Games, he joked that if he saw Harry, he would have to have him searched first to see if he was taping their conversation!" Quinn told the Mirror. "And, of course, at many levels, this is no joking matter."
Quinn added that the monarch was worried about Markle possibly deciding to make her own memoir. They were reportedly relieved when Prince Harry didn't push through with the idea of having another book. However, they were allegedly concerned about his wife publishing her own book and the chances of any conversation with Prince Harry ending up there.
"King Charles now fears that anything he says to his son may end up in a book written by Meghan," Quinn claimed.
The "Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle" author noted that releasing a memoir wasn't unlikely for Markle. According to Quinn, the former "Suits" actress knows she could make money by releasing a book, which would help promote her new business, American Riviera Orchard.
"For all her efforts to make a success of her new online business, American Riviera Orchard, Meghan knows that a personal memoir of her time in the UK as a working royal would sell millions of copies and make her the sort of money she craves," Quinn continued.
"She is also acutely aware that such a book would only boost traffic to her new online business. All this fills King Charles with horror because Harry is bound to be a major contributor to the book."
Meanwhile, a friend of King Charles and Queen Camilla told The Daily Beast that Prince Harry influenced his dad's decision not to see him because of the way he treated his stepmother. Prince Harry had said a lot of mean things about Camilla, even calling her a "villain" and "dangerous" in his memoir "Spare."
"Harry has made things very difficult for himself by saying such cruel and hurtful things about Camilla," the friend of the royal couple said.
"Harry has made it very clear, very publicly, that he despises her. He has forced Charles to choose, which was a very silly thing to do because Camilla and he both chose each other a long time ago."
