Prince Harry Sends Message To King Charles And Prince William In His Outfit For Invictus Service, Royal Expert Claims
Prince Harry was sending a message to his father, King Charles, and brother, Prince William, when he attended a church service in London earlier this week.
The Duke of Sussex flew to the United Kingdom and attended a Thanksgiving service at St. Paul's Cathedral on Wednesday to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. He showed up wearing the KCVO Neck Order and Star, which he received for his service to the monarchy during his grandmother, the late Queen Elizabeth's reign. The medal is awarded as part of the Royal Victorian Order -- a monarchial order of knighthood.
Tom Quinn, a royal commentator and biographer, weighed in on Prince Harry's choice of accessory. The author of "Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle" was convinced that Prince Harry was sending a message to the King and heir apparent.
"Wearing this was Harry's way of reminding his family that his grandmother valued his contribution, even if his father and brother do not. Wearing the KCVO neck and star was also Harry's way of pointing out that he's not the bad boy he's portrayed as being by his father and brother," Quinn told the Mirror.
"It's Harry's way of saying he still supports the monarchy despite the way he feels he has been treated. Perhaps more importantly, wearing the medal is Harry's way of saying, 'You've taken everything else from me, but you can't take this!'"
Prince Harry was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2015 and was made a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. He also wore his Afghanistan Service Medal and a Golden, Diamond and Platinum Jubilee medal when he attended the recent service.
Earlier this year, there were rumors that Prince Harry was willing to return to his royal duties temporarily after King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis. However, both the monarch and the Prince of Wales reportedly shared the same stand on the matter, and it's not to allow Prince Harry to serve the firm he once left.
"He doesn't understand the magnitude of the crime he's committed against that family. He thinks it's a shrug and, 'Oh, let's forget about that. Come on back,'" Sullivan said of Prince Harry while referring to the things he exposed about his family in his memoir "Spare" and previous interviews. "He's never coming back, and not only does William not want him back, nor does the king."
