Gary Owen Accuses Shannon Sharpe Of Not Protecting Black Women: ‘Aint Tryna’ Mess Up That Check’
Gary Owen told Shannon Sharpe to his face that he "doesn't protect Black women."
In a candid interview on YouTube's 'Club Shay Shay,' Owen bares all regarding the troubling circumstances with his estranged ex-wife Kenya Duke, his relationship with his children, and the ups and downs of his personal life.
Known for his bold personality, Owen discussed which comedians can't be canceled, including Dave Chappelle and Katt Williams — noting that Kevin Hart can be canceled due to corporate deals.
"There's some things he wants to say, but he 'ain't tryna mess up that check," Owen said.
The Ohio comic directed his energy to Sharpe, who he believes also won't say the things that need to be said in order to protect his check, saying, "Just like you!"

"You don't defend Black women," the 49-year-old said, pointing in his direction. "You know what I mean."
Sharpe only began to clap his hands and double over in laughter, seemingly unprepared for heat that was thrown in his direction. Despite his uncomfortable laughter, Owen stood firm on his statement.
"I'm sure [that] wranglers 'bout to call you! John Deere," Owen said.
"I gotta take some water on this one," Sharpe, 55, responded, who typically drinks a signature cognac, but instead reaches for the bottle of water. "See, I should have never opened that can of worms!"
"You don't, Shannon," Owen doubled down.
The 'Daddy Day Care' star admitted he chose to do the interview despite his ex-wife's position that he shouldn't go forward. "You must be crazy. The biggest podcast on earth you don't want me to do," he told her.
According to him, her decision stems from the belief that the interview is "not going to help with the relationship with his kids."
According to Atlanta Black Star, his children reportedly haven't spoken to him in nearly three years due to turmoil from the couple's divorce. Per the media outlet, the two parted ways in March 2021 when Duke discovered Owen had an affair.
The YouTube series 'Club Shay Shay' continues to exceed a million views per episode, covering controversial topics within pop culture while sipping cognac and spilling tea with some of today's most well-known celebs.
