Kelly Clarkson Finally Admits Using Ozempic-Like Weight Loss Drug After Claiming Workout Caused Body Transformation
Kelly Clarkson has finally admitted that her drastic weight loss was due to the use of a weight loss drug rather than just exercise and dieting.
The singer-turned-talk show host made the confession while discussing weight loss medications with guest Whoopi Goldberg on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" Monday.
Clarkson told Goldberg -- who used Type 2 diabetes medication Mounjaro to shed pounds -- that she lost "a lot" of weight over the past several months because she had been taking a weight loss drug, as seen in a clip obtained by TMZ.
According to the "Because of You" hitmaker, she was prescribed the drug by her doctor after her "blood work got so bad." She revealed in January that she was diagnosed as "pre-diabetic."
Clarkson said she initially rejected her doctor's advice to start taking weight loss medications, but they ultimately convinced her that her body needed it.
"Mine is a different one than people assume, but I ended up having to do that too," Clarkson confessed.
She explained, "My doctor chased me for two years and I was like, 'No, I'm afraid of it. I already have thyroid problems.'"
Clarkson did not specify which medication she's been taking, but she clarified that it was not the celebrity-favorite injectable Ozempic, which is FDA-approved to treat type 2 diabetes in adults.
"Everybody thinks it's Ozempic -- it's not. It's something else, but it's something that aids in helping break down the sugar. Obviously, my body doesn't do it right."
Clarkson also shut down the speculation that she was unhappy when she was at her "heaviest," which was 203 pounds.
"It's funny because people assume, 'Oh she must have been miserable and depressed or whatever,' and I was like, 'No, I was not,'" she said.
The "Since U Been Gone" singer's comments came just months after she credited diet and exercise for her physical transformation.
Clarkson told People in January that she shed a lot of pounds because she's been "listening to [her] doctor" and following a "protein diet."
She also said she'd become more active after moving to New York City.
"Walking in the city is quite the workout," she told the outlet.
Clarkson previously denied rumors claiming that she was using weight loss drugs or following unhealthy eating regimens.
"Other fake news that's going around about me is that I've been taking weird pills 4 weight loss or doing weird fad diets," she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, in 2019. "All of this is not true."
"I ain't got time 4 all that. I eat the same stuff I always have," she added. "It's all just made [with] different flours/sugars/ingredients."
Following her recent comments, however, Clarkson joins the growing list of celebrities who have admitted to using weight loss medications.
Oprah Winfrey, Tori Spelling, Rebel Wilson, Tracy Morgan and Sharon Osbourne were among those who have gone public with their use of such drugs.
