Prince William doesn't want King Charles to reconcile with his brother, Prince Harry, according to a royal insider.

Society journalist Petronella Wyatt, a friend of Queen Camilla, weighed in on Prince Harry's relationship with his father, King Charles, and big brother, Prince William. She claimed that "some courtiers of my acquaintance hold Wiliam equally liable" in the falling-out between Prince Harry and the royal family.

"There is a public misconception about William and Harry," Wyatt wrote in The Telegraph, quoting a "former palace official."

"It is William who was often the difficult one, and it is William who is preventing his father from having a proper reconciliation with Harry."

The source continued, "This isn't helpful at a point in time when the country would be buoyed up by seeing them together again, as would the King."

An unnamed pal of Prince William and Kate Middleton spoke with The Daily Beast and commented on Wyatt's write-up. The source said that while there was some truth in what she wrote, the Prince of Wales would not instruct his father on how to treat his other son.

"There is a grain of truth in what she is saying, although William wouldn't dream of telling his father what he can or can't do in relation to his other son," the source said.

"But what is true is that Charles' absolute priority is the unity of the monarchy, and given the extent of William's animosity to Harry, Charles can hardly roll out the red carpet and invite Harry and the kids to stay at Balmoral for the summer holidays-however much he would like to."

However, a friend of King Charles and Queen Camilla recently clarified that His Majesty didn't see Prince Harry when he was in England because of the latter's "cruel" remarks against his stepmother in his memoir "Spare" and previous interviews.

Prince Harry called Camilla "dangerous" and a "villain," and the King allegedly felt that he was forced to choose between his wife and youngest son.

"Charles loves his sons, but he also loves his wife. The last few months have made it very clear how important she is; she has been the one propping up the whole edifice," the insider said.

"Harry has made it very clear, very publicly, that he despises her. He has forced Charles to choose, which was a very silly thing to do because Camilla and he both chose each other a long time ago."
