Rep. Jasmine Crockett Calls Marjorie Taylor Greene 'Bad Built, Butch Body' After Being Insulted During Heated House Meeting
A common House committee meeting got heated when verbal insults were thrown back and forth.
When the House Oversight Committee gathered to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena, a verbal spat broke out between Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep. Jasmine Crockett after Greene came for her "fake eyelashes."
The low blow caused everyone in the room to let out a sigh. Chairman James Comer called for "order" of the committee.
The hostility began when Greene, 49, asked if "Any of the Democrats on this committee are employing Judge Merchan's daughter." When Crockett asked what that had to do with Merrick Garland, Greene chimed in to insult her looks.
"I don't think you know what you're here for," Greene responded. "I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you're reading," she said, flaring her hands to imitate fake lashes.
"I'm just curious, just to better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody's 'bleach blonde, bad-built, butch body'...that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?" Crockett, 43, asked Comer.
"A what now?" Chairman Comer asked.
"How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person?!" Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, often referred to as AOC, said after Greene's unprovoked diss. The Democratic Representative asked for those words to be "taken down" — a procedure which allows a speaker to amend their commentary if it is deemed out of order.
"Are your feeling hurt?" Greene asked AOC.
When Greene said "Awww" to her outburst, Cortez, 34 told her: "Oh! Girl... baby girl! Don't even play! We are gonna' move! And we are going to take your words down." According to The Daily Mail, Cortez was heard saying "no way is that being allowed" and "not today."
"Baby girl? I don't think so," Greene retorted.
Per the media outlet, Chairman Comer suspended the hearing while discussing whether to strike her words. Greene eventually agreed to strike her words; however, refused to apologize and continued to call AOC "unintelligent" for not wanting to "debate her."
