George Santos On Ozempic To Lose Total Of 130 Pounds Ahead Of Trial For 23 Criminal Charges
Add former Congressman George Santos to the list of celebrities using the Hollywood wonder drug, Ozempic.
Speaking with Page Six, Santos disclosed that the intense pressures of his scandalous political career and impending trial have led to significant weight gain, prompting him to seek medical intervention.
The embattled ex-politician revealed that he had used the diabetes medication in the past, helping him lose over 100 pounds. However, stress over his criminal charges has left him with stress-induced weight gain.
"Everything else happened in my life and I went totally off. Stress got to me," the 35-year-old ex-Long Island representative said.
"I did gain 40 pounds back. So yesterday I decided I am going back on," adding that he aims to lose 70 pounds again.
Santos is currently facing 23 criminal charges over multiple alleged fraudulent schemes. The charges include conspiracy, wire fraud, making materially false statements to the Federal Election Commission (FEC), falsifying records, aggravated identity theft and credit card fraud.
He has pleaded not guilty to all counts.
Santos's trial is expected to get underway in September and he hopes to lose the added pounds before then. The New York native wants to drop down from 270 to 200 pounds.
"OK, I'm 6-foot-2. I don't want to be skinny," he told the outlet. "I'm too old to be a twink anyway."
An insider told Page Six that Santos lost 92 pounds in eight months using Ozempic.
"I had a moment where I'm like, 'Enough,'" Santos said of his weight.
Aside from preparing for his trial, Santos is busy making videos for his fans for a fee through Cameo.
The Republican has earned over $600,000 since joining the platform in December, he told the New York Post.
