Jennifer Lopez firmly declined to comment on her relationship with Ben Affleck at a Mexico press event for her latest Netflix film 'Atlas.'
In an Instagram video, a fan queried Lopez in Spanish about the validity of the Affleck divorce rumors and sought insight into their relationship. Lopez, 54, refusing to engage, but leaned forward with a stern gaze and replied, "You know better than that," before redirecting the conversation to inquiries about her role in the movie.
"Ok, we're not doing that," Lopez's 'Atlas' co-star Simu Liu answered, according to NBC News. "Thank you so much. We really appreciate it...come on, don't come in here with that energy."
Amid reports of relationship strain between Lopez and Affleck, sources disclosed to PEOPLE on Wednesday that their marriage "is not in the best place at the moment" due to their contrasting stances on media scrutiny. Lopez resides in their $60 million Beverly Hills residence amidst the tension, while Affleck, 51, rents a property just a few miles away.
"She likes to open her heart to her fans and to the world," a source claimed. "He is more introspective and private. This has been difficult day-to-day."
The recent assertion is corroborated by earlier reporting from PEOPLE, which highlighted Affleck's reported aversion to the limelight in contrast to Lopez's comfort with it.
