Fans Side With Taye Diggs After Apryl Jones’ 'Childish' Explanation Of Their Breakup: 'A Good Man Wasn't What She Wanted'
Apryl Jones, known for her appearances on reality television, has faced criticism after an Instagram Live session where she permitted a friend to subtly criticize her ex-partner Taye Diggs.
Rumors circulating about their split were validated by the "Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood" personality in a now viral clip, prompting fans to reconsider their opinions of her.
During their relationship, observers often viewed them as an ideal match, cheering for their unconventional romance as they often posted each other and silly skits on social media.
Jones, 37, is seen attempting to navigate her relationship status, expressing, "There are certain gems in the world that know what they want, know who they want to be with, know themselves, and a lot of times that could be intimidating ... a lot of times it could be all of the things."
The clip is then edited, and she is captured saying, "It's not always ... y'all be so ... my journey in my life is ..." as she seemingly stumbled to find words to convey her thoughts.
Jones' friend George, who appeared in the livestream alongside her, interrupted: "Nobody left her. She left the situation," seemingly referencing her split with the Tony Award-nominated actor.
The YBF Daily posted on their Instagram a portion of the video to over 395K followers who were quick to weigh in.
One commenter said, "So basically, a good man wasn't what she wanted ... But he was enough to change the image people had of her."
"Respectfully, I'm surprised Taye Diggs dated her," another added. "Didn't we all know this was gonna happen? Taye is wayyyy out of her league," another commenter wrote.
Another commenter posted, "I found the video immature and distasteful. To my knowledge, he hasn't spoken about her so what was the approximate reason for dredging up a relationship that they've both moved on from?"
Jones and Diggs, 53, were first spotted together in 2021, but went their separate ways last year.
Prior to his romance with the mother of two, 'The Best Man' actor was married to Idina Menzel from 2003 until they announced their separation in 2013.
