Taken on September 5th, 2022, just three days before the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the photograph captures a poignant moment in the couple's journey. Meghan, 42, and Harry, who relocated to California in 2020 following their decision to step back from their roles as senior members of the royal family, visited Europe for a series of charitable engagements when news of the Queen's death broke on September 8th, 2022.

The somber occasion marked the end of Queen Elizabeth's historic 70-year reign. Despite their distance from royal duties, the couple remained in England to participate in the funeral proceedings that ensued.
