Melania Trump 'Wouldn't Have Much Free Time' If She Publicly Supports Husband Donald Amid Trials, Commentator Claims
Melania Trump hasn't been seen in court amid her husband Donald Trump's hush money trial, but this doesn't make her an unsupportive spouse, according to a political commentator.
John Fund, a journalist and political commentator, recently spoke with GB News' Steven Edginton about the former first couple. According to him, Melania is "supportive" of her husband's trial even if she hasn't shown up in court.
"Well, there are going to be four trials," Fund explained. "If you showed your support publicly in all four trials, you wouldn't have much free time, would you?"
During the conversation, Edginton asked how Melania reacted to the whole ordeal and if she offered emotional support to the POTUS.
"Well, Melania hates politics, and I think after two campaigns, half of a third [campaign], and four years in the White House, she's probably justified in not having a very favorable opinion of Washington DC and now, of course, the American judicial system," Fund said.
"So she's a supportive spouse, but I think the last thing she wants is to stir up more media coverage."
When asked about Melania's state of mind during the trial and if she felt embarrassed about the issue, Fund said the ex-FLOTUS was probably not pleased hearing about the accounts. However, the political commentator added that the former first lady was "used to a lot worse."
Fund explained that Melania and Trump had been married for nearly 20 years already and the former model "was prepared for everything."
"She knew who she was marrying. So it's a package," Fund said of Melania. "And I think that as much as she would like to avoid being in the public spotlight, she knew this was going to be in the public spotlight so long as he was."
Melania and Trump tied the knot on Jan. 22, 2005. However, according to her former aide Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, their union was a "completely transactional marriage."
"It's a transactional marriage in so many ways that they both garnered so much out of their relationship," Winston Wolkoff claimed to CNN earlier this month.
"By marrying Donald, Melania really did finally get to be the Vogue cover model that she's always wanted to be, that supermodel, and by marrying Melania, Donald was legitimized as trying to get away from that whole playboy mentality that everyone wanted to characterize him as."
