Kate Middleton and Prince William are worried about the growing closeness between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and two other members of the royal family, according to an expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been estranged from the members of the firm following their decision to quit their royal duties in 2020 and subsequent moves, including their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Netflix docuseries "Harry & Meghan" and Prince Harry's memoir "Spare." However, the Sussexes have gotten increasingly close to Prince Andrew's daughters, and this reportedly doesn't make the Prince and Princess of Wales comfortable.

"For William and Kate, an alliance between Harry and Meghan and Beatrice and Eugenie is a huge worry," royal expert and commentator Tom Quinn told the Mirror.

"They sense that Beatrice and Eugenie feel that, as virtual outcasts themselves, they have far more in common with Harry and Megan than with any other part of the family. The situation is made worse by the fact that the senior royals' main asset -- Kate herself -- is effectively out of action while she continues her treatment for cancer."

Per Quinn, even when Prince Harry and Markle moved to the United States, they reportedly kept close contact with Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. Their tight friendship has remained through the years.

"Although Harry and Meghan have little sympathy for Prince Andrew, they've kept in regular contact with Beatrice and Eugenie, who have always been free of any associations with Meghan's angry, bitter time in the UK," Quinn continued.

In February 2022, Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, were photographed having dinner in Santa Barbara. The foursome seemed to be enjoying each other's company as they laughed while chatting during their dinner in the photos obtained by TMZ.

A week before the sighting, Prince Harry was also seen with his cousin, Princess Eugenie, enjoying his first Super Bowl in Inglewood, California, People reported. Both Markle and Brooksbank were noticeably missing during the outing.

Meanwhile, there are rumors that Princess Beatrice is in talks to be Middleton's royal fill-in. The Princess of Wales is not expected to return to her royal duties anytime soon; she might not even make any public appearance for the rest of the year as she continues her cancer treatment.

"[Beatrice] would love for it to become a permanent situation," an unnamed source told Life & Style. "Beatrice is comfortable in the spotlight and would be overjoyed to become a working royal."

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie joined the Sovereign Garden Party at Buckingham Palace hosted by Prince William last week. The sighting fueled the rumors that they might become working royals, but GB News' royal correspondent Cameron Walker shut down the speculations.

"We've talked a lot about this slimmed-down monarchy. So I asked the question to somebody close to William, 'Is this a situation where Prince William could call upon this younger generation of royals to carry out more public duties in the future?" Walker said. "I was categorically told, 'Absolutely not.'"
