Alfonso Ribeiro Says He 'Don't Need Or Ever Want' Tyler Perry To 'Do Anything' For Him In Scathing Tweet
Alfonso Ribeiro took to Twitter with a scathing message about Tyler Perry on Tuesday.
Ribeiro responded to a post from a fan who suggested that "@tylerperry needs to revamp @alfonso_ribeiro career, I just know he could." The New York native replied, "I don't need or ever want that man to do anything for me."
The fan's initial tweet was seemingly in response to the comments 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' actor recently made about his career. Earlier this month, Ribeiro expressed how playing the role of Carlton Banks on NBC from 1990 through 1996 ended up becoming a major sacrifice for his overall career.
"Playing Carlton on 'Fresh Prince' became a sacrifice. I used to always say doing Carlton was the greatest and worst thing that ever happened to me," he told 'Closer Weekly.' "It was one of the greatest roles that I ever was fortunate enough to play, but it was also the role that stopped me from acting again because people couldn't see me as anything else. The sacrifice was not having an acting career anymore."

Both Ribeiro, 52, and Tyler Perry have gone on to lead successful lives and careers.
Perry's most recent movie, 'Mea Culpa' was released on Netflix in February 2024 starring Kelly Rowland and Trevante Rhodes. It is reported that 'Medea's Destination Wedding' is currently in the works with no projected release date.
However, due to the rise of Artifical Intellegence (AI), specifically a text-to-video generator called Sora, the producer reportedly halted an $800 million expansion of his movie studio.
"I was in the middle of, and have been planning for the last four years, about an $800 million expansion at the studio... ," Perry, 54, told The Hollywood Reporter. "All of that is currently and indefinitely on hold because of Sora and what I'm seeing."

From stage plays, to TV sitcoms to movies, Perry's projects have grossed in total over $660 million dollars, according to 'Cosmopolitan.' His estimated worth is $1 billion.
Ribeiro, who also starred in the NBC/UPN series "In the House" alongside LL Cool J from 1997-1999, now works primarily as a television host. He hosts "America's Funniest Home Videos", '"Dancing with the Stars", and "America's Funniest Home Videos: Animal Edition."
In regards to a return to acting, he told "Closer Weekly" that he is happy with his life as it is. "I'm enjoying being a host and am very happy with it. But, yes, I would go back to acting if it was exactly the right thing."
Perry has not publicly responded to Ribeiro's tweet.
