Jennifer Aniston 'Still Hoping' To Reconcile With Ex John Mayer Who Was Focused On 'Meeting Her Needs': Report
Jennifer Aniston has one former lover she wants to get back with, according to a report.
Aniston, 55, had been married twice. She previously tied the knot with Brad Pitt (2000-2005) and Justin Theroux (2015-2017). Although both marriages ended in divorce, one past romance reportedly haunts her, and so she wants to get back with that ex-boyfriend.
"Jen's affair with John Mayer was completely different than all of her past relationships, which were pretty much all with actors of varying levels of fame," an unnamed source told Life & Style.
"That meant that even with Brad Pitt, there was an aspect of competition in play between the two of them. That kind of thing was never the case with Mayer -- when he and Jen had their thing, he was totally focused on making her happy and meeting her needs."
The tipster claimed the "Your Body Is a Wonderland" hitmaker "spoiled" the "Friends" alum "with endless, laser-like attention." However, it reportedly took a toll on her second marriage because she wasn't getting the same attention.
The way Mayer spoiled Aniston "may have permanently damaged her when it comes to her eventual failed marriage to Justin Theroux, a guy who was and is always chasing the next big career opportunity," the source continued.
Mayer and Aniston had an on-again, off-again relationship between 2008 and 2009. The source claimed that when they were together, "there was no distraction," and he was supportive of "The Morning Show" star. He even joined her at the Oscars with "a perfectly modest smile on his face."
"They just were able to bond on a much deeper level because of that, and everybody who really knows Jen believes she has been chasing that elusive feeling ever since -- while still hoping against hope that a reunion with Mayer is possible somewhere down the line!" the source continued.
In a 2010 interview with Playboy, Mayer talked about his romance with Aniston. He said that he was "very protective of Jen." When asked if he still loved the "Murder Mystery" actress, the "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me" crooner gave a positive response.
"Yes, always," Mayer said. "I'll always be sorry that it didn't last. In some ways, I wish I could be with her. But I can't change the fact that I need to be 32."
Aniston was eight years Mayer's senior. She was already in her late 30s or early 40s when they dated, and the singer admitted that the age difference played a role in their split.
"My ability to go deep with somebody is old soul. My ability to commit and be faithful is old soul. But 32 just comes roaring out of me at points when I don't see it coming," he explained.
"I want to dance. I want to get on an airplane and be like a ninja. I want to be an explorer. I want to be like 'The Bourne Identity.' I don't want to pet dogs in the kitchen."
Although they parted ways over a decade ago, the exes remained good friends.
"Jen and John have a nice friendship. John has a deep admiration and respect for Jen. [...] Whenever they talk or are out together it's always friendly and nice. There is definitely no weirdness between them," a source told Us Weekly.
