Shehorn's friends have started a GoFundMe campaign to help with her medical expenses, claiming she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend. KTLA reports that Shehorn, 35, had recently sought a restraining order against him.

"Allie is a remarkable person, full of warmth, kindness, and love. No one deserves to endure such a traumatic experience, especially someone as compassionate and caring as Allie," the GoFundMe post reads.

Christine White, the special effects makeup artist's surrogate mother told the outlet how "This is not the kind of thing that should happen to anybody. You don't think this is ever going to happen to you."

"I found her and I had to go into the bedroom where it happened. That wasn't a pretty sight," White continued.

Emily MacDonald, one of the GoFundMe page organizers, informed the outlet that despite her injuries, Shehorn is recovering well.

"She's been in really good spirits. I feel like she's comforting all of us, which is kind of how Allie is. Even when she's at rock bottom, she's still looking to see how she can lift other people up," MacDonald shared.

In a Tuesday, May 28 update, fellow GoFundMe organizer Jed Dornoff announced that Shehorn has been moved out of the intensive care unit. "She is still determined not to let this beat her and is pushing through the pain to heal," Dornoff wrote.

The LAPD informed KTLA that Shehorn's alleged attacker fled the state. On Monday, May 27, Shehorn's friends shared via GoFundMe that the suspect was later captured in Texas.
