Jennifer Lopez Called 'Desperate' For Clinging To Ben Affleck Amid Claims 'Divorce Is Imminent'
Jennifer Lopez has been telling everyone that she and her husband, Ben Affleck, will get through their marital strife, according to an insider.
Lopez, 54, and Affleck, 51, have been plagued with split rumors in recent weeks. Although they were recently spotted together, the divorce rumors never went away. Lopez was also allegedly determined to make her fourth marriage work, telling others that she and Affleck would get through their marital crisis.
"J.Lo is still telling everyone they're going to get through this, but it's looking really bad," an anonymous insider told In Touch.
The source wasn't convinced that the issue between Lopez and Affleck would be resolved, even saying that divorce was "imminent."
"Ben is refusing to budge, so it's pretty clear a divorce is imminent," the source added.
Cindy Adams, a gossip columnist and writer, called Lopez "desperate" for clinging to the "Gone Girl" actor.
"She's now desperate to pretend temp Affleck is still happy happy with her. Why? Because it's embarrassing," Adams wrote in a column for the New York Post.
One of Lopez's friends in Los Angeles spoke with the Daily Mail and addressed the issue. The anonymous pal claimed that Lopez would not give up on her marriage to Affleck because she has invested so much in it. Lopez even showed up to Fin's school play two weeks ago despite reports claiming that she and Affleck already started living in separate homes.
"If it is only a question of putting the work in, then you had better believe that [Lopez] will turn it around," the insider said.
"She has thrown her heart and soul into her love story with Ben and will not give it up without a fight. From what I hear, there is still a lot of love there, so there must be hope."
According to sources, among the issues between the couple is their different perspectives toward the press. Lopez reportedly enjoys the media, but Affleck doesn't feel the same.
The "Marry Me" actress even released a documentary about their love story, "The Greatest Love Story Never Told," earlier this year. In the documentary, Affleck was taken aback when she shared his love letters for her with her guests.
Lopez also acknowledged that her husband wasn't comfortable being the muse of her projects. Along with the documentary, Lopez released her ninth studio album, "This Is Me... Now," a sequel to her 2002 album "This Is Me... Then," inspired by her and Affleck's romance.
"I don't think [Ben] is very comfortable with me doing all of this," Lopez said in the documentary. "But he loves me, he knows I'm an artist, and he's gonna support me in every way he can because he knows you can't stop me from making the music I made... he doesn't want to stop me. But that doesn't mean he's comfortable being the muse."
