DeGeneres, who has been a Hollywood mainstay since 1981, has announced her final stand-up comedy tour dates. Live Nation, the producer of the event, announced how "This will be the last opportunity for fans to witness a comedy legend in her final curtain call."

The tour, titled 'Ellen's Last Stand...Up Tour,' will be comprised of 27 shows spanning across the summer and the country. Performances will begin on June 19th and end on August 17th. DeGeneres, 66, will be making an appearance in most major cities including New York, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Diego, Nashville, and Minneapolis. The taping will take place at her Minneapolis shows.

The television host's career has not gone without scandals, including an exposé released by BuzzFeed News in 2020 reporting employee mistreatment by the star while working on her show 'Ellen'. After the allegations, producers were reportedly fired, the show came to a close, and the comedian took a break from the limelight.

She shared to multiple sources that she and her wife Portia de Rossi "were both just laying low for a while." DeGeneres has credited the severity of the backlash to the persona people had come to associate her with.

"The 'be kind' girl wasn't kind," she said during a stand-up comedy set in West Hollywood in April. "I became this one-dimensional character who gave stuff away and danced up steps."

That show was her first return to the stage after a two year absence. In her performances at Largo in West Hollywood, she had begun to publicly address the emotional ramifications and lasting effects of the situation.

"I used to say that I didn't care what other people thought of me and I realized...I said that at the height of my popularity," she continued. "It is such a waste of time to worry about what other people think...Right now I'm hoping you're thinking, 'This is marvelous, I'm so happy to be here.' But you could be thinking, 'Let's see how this goes.' "

Tickets for 'Ellen's Last Stand...Up Tour' will be available at 10AM EST on May 31.
