Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Encounter Neighborhood Issues, Including Odor From Cannabis Farm, At Montecito Home: Report
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a significant investment in a prestigious Californian locale, unaware of the unforeseen challenges awaiting them in the future.
Residing in a lavish $14.5 million estate in Montecito, the couple shares their abode with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Boasting seven bedrooms, thirteen and a half bathrooms, with amenities including a home office and a gym, the interior exudes a fusion of minimalist, Scandinavian, and classic Mediterranean styles. Meanwhile, the exterior is equally impressive, featuring a chicken coop, a swimming pool, and a playhouse for their children.
However, their enjoyment of their new home may be dampened by an unpleasant odor emanating from a nearby farm. In the case of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, their residence lies just a brief 10-minute drive from a cannabis farm, according to the 'Daily Mail.'
Cannabis is legal for recreational use in California — one of the 24 states permitting it — allowing their neighbors the liberty to cultivate the plant on a large scale. While this can be financially lucrative, it also has the potential to generate a highly potent odor, which may be overwhelming for nearby residents like Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan.
The odor won't just impact the royals as their Santa Barbara neighborhood is home to other high-profile residents, including Oprah Winfrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom.
Since purchasing the property, known as the Chateau of Riven Rock, for $14.6 million (£11.93 million) in July 2020, the value has skyrocketed.
According to 'The Sun,' the oasis is now estimated to be worth over $30 million as of 2022, more than doubling in just a couple of years.
