Selena Gomez was just a Benny Blanco away from adopting a baby.

The 'Only Murders in the Building' star was asked in an interview with 'TIME' whether being in a relationship helped to mitigate her feelings and mental health.

"It's a little irrelevant, only because he isn't my only source of happiness. I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it," Gomez, 31, replied. "A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it."

In learning to love herself and live with herself, the artist was able to see a future that did not rely on anyone else. This comfort inspired her plan to "adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone."

Her plan was brought to a halt when she met music producer Benny Blaco. Gomez continued to share with the outlet how she cherishes "every moment with him. I don't know what the future holds, but I do know that he's not going anywhere any time soon."

The former 'Wizards of Waverly Place' actress is one for taking life by the reigns and driving where she wants to go. Recently, Gomez launched a new beauty line called Rare Beauty. The line was named one of TIME's 100's Most Influential Companies.

Rare Beauty is dedicated to helping people embrace their natural beauty. On the company's site, Gomez shared her dream for the company was to "be more than a beauty brand — it can make an impact. I want us all to stop comparing ourselves to each other and just start embracing our own uniqueness."
