Queen Letizia And King Felipe Of Spain Show United Front At Royal Meeting Amid Bombshell Book Release ‘Letizia’s Silences’
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia attended a board meeting with the patrons of The Gallery of the Royal Collections in Madrid, Spain, amid explosive infidelity allegations.
The royal couple seemingly showed a united front Thursday amid shocking claims written in journalist Jaime Peñafiel's new blockbuster book, 'Letizia's Silences,' which details the Queen's alleged infidelity.
The book, which hit shelves this week, speaks about the emotional torment and "tests" Letizia would allegedly put Felipe through, in addition to her purported long-time affair with her ex-brother-in-law, Jaime Del Burgo.
The king was reportedly in shambles over his wife's alleged affair, considering Peñafiel wrote that "the very much in love Felipe" conceived "distance as the worst of evils."
The royal's first public outing together reflected a "business as usual" demeanor, with Letizia, 51, poker-faced, and the king seemingly unsettled, per The Daily Mail. Letizia is seen wearing a powder blue pants suit, alongside the king, who wore a pinstripe navy suit and red tie.
The queen was described by royal expert Judi James as owning a "proud posture," raised chin and a "regal and warm gaze." Meanwhile, Felipe embodied a "weak but warm-looking smile" and held his arms "awkwardly at his sides."
Del Burgo, entrepreneur and son of former politician Jaime Ignacio Del Burgo, was married to the queen's sister, Telma Ortiz, from 2012 to 2014, per 'The Post.'
In 'Letizia's Silences,' the 91-year-old Peñafiel wrote that the king was "crushed and destroyed" by the queen's alleged "betrayal" before being "plunged into hell." The alleged affair between the queen and Del Burgo reportedly carried on for years after the royal wedding.
The royal parents of two became husband and wife in May of 2004 at the Almudena Cathedral in Madrid. Interestingly, meteorological records were taken for their wedding day, showing that the date of the 22nd hadn't registered rain in Madrid for decades.
