Ex-NBA player Drew Gordon, who played for the Philadelphia 76ers for the 2014-2015 season, has died.

He was 33.

The former NBA forward, who is also the elder brother of Aaron Gordon of the Denver Nuggets, died in a car accident on May 30 in Portland, Oregon, per CBS. The accident was reported to the news outlet by Gordon's agent Calvin Andrews.

The Denver Nuggets took to Twitter, now known as X, with a heartfelt post for the NBA star, expressing that they are "devastated" to learn about the "tragic news."

"The Denver Nuggets organization is devastated to learn about the tragic passing of Drew Gordon. Drew was far too young to leave this world, but his legacy will forever live on through his three beautiful children and all of his loved ones," the Colorado-based team wrote. "Our hearts are with Aaron and the Gordon family during this extremely difficult time."

Friends and fans alike took to the comment section to share their condolences, responding with praying hand emojis as well as "rest in peace."

"Devastating news... May Drew rest in peace... My condolences to the entire family and all their friends and close ones," a fellow X user wrote. "Praying for you and your family Aaron you have my deepest condolences James and Vita Brown your biggest fans!" another wrote.

According to PEOPLE, Gordon's career started at UCLA where he spent two years in the Bruins men's basketball program.

After playing with the Dallas Maverick's in the Summer League, he bounced between foreign leagues and the G League before ultimately signing with the Philadelphia 76ers, his only NBA team, per CBS.
