Not much will change if Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lose their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex, according to a royal expert.

Many call for King Charles to strip Prince Harry of his dukedom, which he received from the late Queen Elizabeth, after his 2018 royal wedding to Markle. However, Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, who spoke on The Royal Beat recently, doesn't think it would be a big deal. Instead, she felt that stripping them of their remaining royal titles would come across as "unkind" and "unnecessary" as they wouldn't lose it entirely. For instance, Markle will instead be called "Princess Henry" if she is no longer the Duchess of Sussex.

"I don't think anything will happen to the titles because, if they lose their titles, Harry is still a prince of the blood, and Meghan, instead of being the Duchess of Sussex, [would] be Princess Henry," Seward said, per the Mirror.

"That really would [confuse the Americans]. I think [it's] probably best just to leave it because it looks unkind, it looks unnecessary."

The "William & Harry" author added that since the Queen granted them the titles, the current monarch should just "let them keep them." She also shared some advice on how the royal family should deal with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, which she believes is what they already practice.

"I think the best thing is to leave them, ignore them, and let them get on with it -- which is really what the Palace and the Royal Family are doing," Seward continued.

The talks about stripping Prince Harry and Markle of their dukedom titles resurfaced following their three-day trip to Nigeria last month, where they were treated like royals when they visited the African country as private citizens. According to Daily Mail columnist Maureen Callahan, the British monarch and Prince of Wales were reportedly considering the removal of the Sussexes' royal titles. However, she believed they would not push it.

"William and Charles have been actively discussing stripping Harry and Meghan of their royal titles in the wake of their Nigeria tour," Callahan said on GB News. "But they likely never will because they don't want to give them something else to gripe about. Another quiver in their arsenal."
