The Mirror has indicated that Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, may grace the Buckingham Palace balcony post-Trooping the Colour ceremony, health permitting. The palace has confirmed her absence from the event's dress rehearsal.

Post-recovery from her cancer treatment, and with medical approval, she plans to resume her public engagements. Meanwhile, Lieutenant General James Bucknall, KCB, CBE, will undertake her duties during her convalescence.

The British Army's website had initially announced that Princess Kate would inspect soldiers at the Horse Guards Parade in London on June 8, coinciding with the Trooping the Colour event.

However, this statement was swiftly withdrawn. The retraction followed after the website had detailed, "Trooping the Colour reviewed by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales also includes 250 soldiers from the Foot Guards who will line the processional route along The Mall."

This confusion arose despite the fact that on St. Patrick's Day in 2023, King Charles appointed Princess Kate as the honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards, a position that traditionally involves inspecting the guards during the Trooping Of Colour.

"We wish the Colonel of the Irish Guards the best of best wishes for her recovery,"  Lt. Col. James Shaw, the Brigade Major of the Household Division said to GB News. "And again, the Irish Guards are hugely proud to have her as their Colonel and want to put on a really special show this year."

When the Princess of Wales shared her cancer diagnosis with the public on March 22, 2024, she emphasized her dedication to her royal responsibilities, stating, "My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery."

"On May 28, 2024, an insider revealed to Vanity Fair that the Princess' treatment is going well but there's still no definite date for her return to public life. "There is no timeline, and there is certainly no hurry. It will be when Catherine feels ready and when she gets the green light from her medical team. But she will 100 percent be coming back to work, of that there is no question," the source stated.
