King Charles Sends Lilibet Birthday Present But Reserves Special Gift When Feud With Harry, Meghan Ends: Royal Expert
King Charles remembered his granddaughter Lilibet on her birthday.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's daughter turned 3 on Tuesday. The British monarch made sure to make her natal day extra special by sending a present and a message, according to royal expert and commentator Tom Quinn.
"King Charles had no intention of completely ignoring Lilibet's birthday, so he has sent a gift along with a message," Quinn told the Mirror.
Although Prince Harry's dad sent his daughter a present, there's reportedly a special gift reserved for when the family feud is over.
"He gave Prince George a beautiful hand-made wooden swing with George's name carved on it, and he has plans to give something similar to Lilibet, but not this year. And not unless and until the family feud dies down," the author of "Kensington Palace: An Intimate Memoir from Queen Mary to Meghan Markle" said.
Quinn added that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's neighbors in Montecito, including celebrity couple Katy Perry and Orland Bloom, attended the pre-birthday bash over the weekend. Although they reportedly ruled out the expensive presents, the Sussexes' home was "awash with celebrities." Perry and Bloom reportedly brought their daughter, Daisy, who is only a few months older than Lilibet.
People confirmed the pre-birthday celebration over the weekend and added that the guests were close friends and family. Lilibet's friends were also invited.
However, while they celebrated the event with celebrities, Quinn alleged that Prince Harry and Markle didn't extend an invitation to the royal family.
"Shockingly, no invitations to Lilibet's party were issued to members of the Royal Family," Quinn claimed.
"One of Harry's old army friends said: 'Harry knew they wouldn't come anyway, and he was pretty sure he would not have wanted them there. But he is really sad that Archie and Lilibet cannot have any kind of relationship with their cousins while his feud with his family continues.'"
Prince Harry and Markle have raised their kids away from the spotlight and only gave the world a glimpse of their daughter in their 2021 holiday card, first shared with Team Rubicon, a veteran-led organization that the royal couple previously supported.
"This year, 2021, we welcomed our daughter, Lilibet, to the world. Archie made us a 'Mama' and a 'Papa,' and Lili made us a family," the message read.
"As we look forward to 2022, we have made donations on your behalf to several organizations that honor and protect families -- from those being relocated from Afghanistan to American families in need of paid parental leave."
