Trina Has ‘No Problems’ With Nicki Minaj, Clarifies Beyoncé ‘Queen Of Rap’ Comment: 'I'm In The Moment'
Trina clarified the controversy surrounding her relationship with Nicki Minaj and her comments she made about Beyoncé.
During an interview on 'Reality with the King' podcast, the "Diamond Princess" gave an update on her relationship with Queens rapper following their fallout after uniting to create the 2019 single, "BAPS."
The rapper explained that it was in fact her own team member that blindsided her by overstepping her in regard to Minaj's alleged professional decorum. After the person on her team took his frustrations out on social media, Trina started hearing the backlash and stepped in, admitting that her team "dropped the ball."
"When that happened, somebody that was working with me, on my team... I don't know if they went live, or [if it] was Bigo," Trina began recalling the actions of the team member, referring to a popular live stream app. "When I saw it I was like, 'What the h**l are you doing?' "
The host chimed in, saying her team member allegedly ranted that Minaj was "manipulative" on social media. When Trina confronted the man who claimed he was "mad" because they did "all this work" and Minaj did not "help out," the rapper shut down the claims.
"You're wrong," Trina stated. "It don't work like that. You're on this side, but you're not on the business side. You're not cutting no checks."
Trina, born Katrina Laverne Taylor, explained that she and her team were both "blindsided" by his emotional response "on live."
The 45-year-old admitted she has "no problem" with Minaj, and she was one of the first people to reach out when her mother passed.
She also settled more friction, which involved Trina dubbing Beyoncé the queen of rap, sending "Barbs" into a tizzy.
"First of all, I'm fresh off the Renaissance Tour," Trina laughed. "I love Beyoncé, it was in the hype of the moment," she explained, admitting she's a major Beyoncé stan who calls her "top tier."
"I love all these girls, I'm just happy they're doing their thing," the Miami native confessed. "I don't even have time for hate."
