Anderson's death has left his family and friends in grief.

Known for his role as Dr. Edward Porter on The WB's "Felicity" for four seasons, Anderson died on June 1, as verified by his wife, Saxon Trainor, who announced the news on Instagram.

In an emotional post, Saxon, who married Anderson in 2003, posted a picture of him along with a tribute to her late-husband in the caption written by her brother-in-law Michael O'Malley, as she was "too bereft now to write anything."

"He had a long successful career as an actor," O'Malley wrote in the Instagram post on June 2. "He was on that old show Thirtysomething; he was Felicity's father on Felicity; he was killed in a basement in a Friday the 13th movie: he was on Star Trek and dozens of other shows. He was a smart and funny guy, a fantastic cook; he wrote three great novels which you can find on Amazon. I'll miss him but his ordeal is over."

Erich Anderson rose to prominence with his breakthrough role in the 1984 film "Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter." His career continued to flourish as he appeared in various television series, including "7th Heaven," "The X-Files," and "NYPD Blue."

After news of his death was announced, his friends extended their sympathies, with "Yellowstone" actor Brad Schmidt sharing encouragement to Saxon. "Thinking about you during this time Saxon," he wrote.

"Schitt's Creek" star Emily Hampshire also sent her love to the widow, writing, "Sending you all the love and healing vibes during this time."
