Kansas City Chiefs Player BJ Thompson Suffers Cardiac Arrest During Team Meeting
Kansas City Chiefs player BJ Thompson was taken to the hospital after a medical emergency this week.
According to Fox-16, Thompson suffered a seizure, which led to cardiac arrest. The incident occurred on Thursday morning at the Chiefs' facility for a team meeting.
Practice and media availability for selected Chiefs' players was originally scheduled for Thursday, but has now been rescheduled to Friday due to the health crisis of their teammate.
Sports reporter Tom Pelissero tweeted: "The #Chiefs canceled all team activities today after a backup defensive lineman had a seizure in a special teams meeting and went into cardiac arrest, per sources. The team's medical staff worked quickly, an ambulance was called and the player is currently in stable condition."
It has been reported that the NFL player is now in stable condition.
The Kansas City Chiefs have experienced an increased amount of press coverage recently. Harrison Butker's controversial speech at Benedictine college inspired criticism and critiques. Swifites (Taylor Swift's fanbase) rose up, frustrated that Butker had referenced Swift's lyrics in the same speech that he suggested a woman's true vocation was to be a "homemaker."
"This undue familiarity will prove to be problematic every time, because as my teammate's girlfriend says, familiarity breeds contempt," he said in reference to the superstar's song "Bejeweled."
Swift and her relationship with tight end Travis Kelce continues to make headlines.
Both Butker, 28, and Kelce were made fun of by Jason Sudeikis at a Kansas City fundraiser for Mercy Children's Hospital. In his skit, Sudeikis joked to Kelce, "When are you going to make an honest woman out of her?" in reference to the pop superstar. "Taylor doesn't need to be working anymore, and, again, I know your kicker agrees with me. He gets it."
Thompson, 25, was drafted by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
