On Thursday, Prince William participated in the global commemorative event honoring the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings at Omaha Beach in France. He was joined by prominent figures like President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

During the ceremony, video recordings captured William, 41, engaging in conversation with the visiting king and queen, who had undertaken a state visit to Britain in 2018.

In March, King Willem-Alexander garnered global attention after a video surfaced of him playfully remarking to a young admirer that his family portraits were not digitally altered amid a Photoshop controversy involving Kate and Kensington Palace.

The controversy erupted when the palace unveiled a portrait of Kate and her three children, snapped by William to commemorate Mother's Day in Britain, observed on March 10th.

The significance of the photo lay in its status as Kate's initial official image since Christmas Day 2023. Following her retreat from public view in January, the princess underwent "planned abdominal surgery."

During Kate's prolonged absence from public engagements, the palace's silence regarding the princess' personal health matters created a void of information. This void was filled with widespread speculation and conspiracy theories about her well-being, location, and marital status.

Following the release of the Mother's Day photo, observant social media users swiftly detected signs of editing scattered throughout the frame, including noticeable seams disrupting elements of the image. Picture agencies swiftly issued "kill" notices to news organizations, urging them to retract the image due to concerns over potential violations of image-manipulation standards.

On March 11, Kate, 42, took to social media to personally address the situation.

"Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing," she stated. "I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother's Day."
