Kim Porter's Dad Reacts To Diddy's Disturbing Video Of Cassie, Wonders if Rapper Abused Daughter In The Same Way
Kim Porter's dad, Jake Porter, broke his silence about Sean "Diddy" Combs' viral hotel surveillance footage, where he seemingly abused his ex-girlfriend, Cassie.
Porter, 78, spoke with Rolling Stone about the disturbing video on Friday, nearly a month after CNN released it. Kim's dad admitted that it raised concern whether his daughter experienced the same when she was with the music mogul. Kim died of lobar pneumonia in 2018.
"You can say I was disgusted with the video, and I wouldn't treat my enemy like that," Porter said. "It was despicable."
He added, "I couldn't believe it. I was in Vietnam, and I wouldn't do that to my enemy."
When asked if he witnessed Diddy physically abuse his own daughter, Porter said, "No." According to him, he didn't witness anything "to that extent." He admitted, however, that "it made me wonder" if his daughter experienced the same.
Porter recounted living with his daughter or near her during different periods of her relationship with the "I'll Be Missing You" hitmaker in the 1990s. According to him, the "horrible" video gave him a "different outlook" on Diddy.
"I didn't know he could stoop that low," Porter continued. "I imagine it surprised a lot of people. I wouldn't even do a dog like that. My heart goes out to Cassie."
Kim's father refused to answer several questions. However, he said she truly loved the Bad Boy Records founder but "just couldn't live" with him.
"I think he was a very jealous person," Porter continued. "They both loved each other. Kim's love was legitimate. Puffy's love, I don't know what he calls love, you know what I mean? I really don't think he has any idea what love is."
Diddy and Kim share three children -- son Christian Combs, 26, and 17-year-old twin daughters Jessie James and D'Lila.
Porter added that moving forward his "concern is the children."
Porter and Diddy had an on-again, off-again relationship in the 1990s before they finally decided to split for good in 2007.
Kim decided to leave Diddy due to his alleged infidelity.
"He's not the first man who's cheated," she told Essence magazine in 2007, per Fox News. "He's not the first man who's had a baby outside of his relationship. He's not the originator of this. But at this point in my life -- I have girls now -- it's a different program."
Meanwhile, Diddy paid tribute when she passed away in 2018. In a series of now-deleted tweets, he described their relationship.
"I don't know what I'm going to do without you, baby. I miss you so much. Today I'm going to pay tribute to you, I'm going to try and find the words to explain our unexplainable relationship," Diddy wrote, per Billboard.
"We were more than best friends, we were more than soulmates. WE WERE SOME OTHER S**T!! And I miss you so much. Super Black Love."
