Kate Middleton Fears Long Break Will Shift Public Attention To Other Royals Representing Her, But Prince William Won't Rush Wife: Report
Kate Middleton is pressured to give in to the public's demand for her to make a public appearance, but her husband, Prince William, wants her to take her time to fully recover, according to a source.
The Princess of Wales is reportedly conflicted about whether she will return to her royal duties soon following the warm support from the public or enjoy her long break as she undergoes cancer treatment. Another thing that allegedly worries the future queen is the possibility of the people getting used to other royals filling in for her amid her months of absence. However, her husband is adamant that she focus on her recovery.
"William has urged her not to rush back and to ensure she takes all the time she needs to rest and recover -- insisting she might regret it if she does and even doing occasional appearances could tire her out," an unnamed source told Closer.
"While Kate understands William's concerns and is eager to follow his advice, part of her worries that the longer she stays out of the limelight, people will get used to other royals stepping up in her place."
The heir apparent has reportedly "assured" his wife that her fears "will never happen" and guarantees that "the public will be there waiting for her when she's ready to return -- assuring her that whenever that time comes, the public reaction will exceed all her expectations."
Princess Beatrice was reportedly among tapped to do some engagements on Middleton's behalf. An anonymous source claimed that the Princess of York loved the idea and wanted it to be permanent.
"[Beatrice] would love for it to become a permanent situation," the source told Life & Style. "Beatrice is comfortable in the spotlight and would be overjoyed to become a working royal."

Middleton's spokesperson previously said she "may be keen to attend events as and when she feels able to." However, another tipster told Us Weekly that the Duchess of Cambridge may not return to her usual duties even if her recovery is "going well."
"She's not able to see many people because she is susceptible to getting sick, and they don't want her compromised, but she's up and about," the source said.
A Palace spokesperson also said she "needs the space and the privacy to recover right now" but will "return to work when she has had the green light from doctors."
