Donald Trump heaped praise on Taylor Swift for her "unusually beautiful" appearance even after the singer publicly criticized him.

The former president shared his thoughts on the pop superstar in the new book "Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass" by Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh.

"I think she's beautiful -- very beautiful! I find her very beautiful," Trump told Setoodeh during an interview in November last year, according to an excerpt of the book shared by Variety.

The GOP 2024 presidential candidate added, "I think she's liberal. She probably doesn't like Trump. I hear she's very talented. I think she's very beautiful, actually -- unusually beautiful!"

Trump also told the journalist that he was surprised by Swift's political affiliation.

"She is liberal, or is that just an act?" the ex-POTUS asked. "She's legitimately liberal? It's not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal."

Swift had remained apolitical for the 2016 presidential election, though she later admitted to The Guardian that she regretted not speaking up at the time and that she would have endorsed Hillary Clinton for president.

It wasn't until 2018 that she broke her political silence to endorse two Democratic Tennessee candidates, Phil Bredesen and Jim Cooper, for the House of Representatives in the midterm elections.

Swift's endorsement of the Democratic Senate candidates and criticism of then-Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn earned her the disapproval of Trump.

"Let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25% less now," Trump commented at the time, as seen in a video shared by ABC News.

Since then, Swift has slammed Trump in interviews and on social media and endorsed President Joe Biden during the 2020 race.

In a 2019 interview with The Guardian, the "All Too Well" hitmaker accused Trump of "gaslighting the American public" and treating the U.S. like an "autocracy."

Ahead of the 2020 election, Swift fired back at Trump for his tweet seemingly threatening violence against protesters in Minnesota following the death of George Floyd.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the "Cruel Summer" singer wrote: "After stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency, you have the nerve to feign moral superiority before threatening violence? 'When the looting starts the shooting starts'??? We will vote you out in November."

Swift also criticized Trump later that year over his attacks on mail-in voting.

"Donald Trump's ineffective leadership gravely worsened the crisis that we are in and he is now taking advantage of it to subvert and destroy our right to vote and vote safely," she wrote on X.

Swift has not publicly endorsed a candidate for the 2024 presidential election but has urged her fans to vote.

"Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass" hits shelves June 18.
