Queen Camilla Expresses Her Desire To Assume King Charles's Royal Duties
During a recent public appearance, Queen Camilla, the wife of King Charles, made an unexpected revelation.
The 76-year-old queen, during her visit to the Gardening Bohemia exhibition at the Garden Museum on Wednesday, expressed her wish to assume a particular role currently held by the king.
In her speech at the event, Queen Camilla humorously remarked, "I don't know how many visits I've paid here - quite a lot. I know my husband's patron but I might have to nudge him, I'd quite like to take that one away from him."
Camilla's candid comments brought laughter from the audience. She continued, "It's such a special place that every time I'm asked, I just have to come back again and I think this wonderful exhibition celebrating women in gardening is so important."
In addition to his vital responsibilities as the sovereign of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth realms, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and head of the royal family, King Charles, 75, also serves as the Royal Patron of the Garden Museum.
The King maintains this role, which he held as the Prince of Wales, reflecting his lifelong interests in gardening, sustainability, and nature.
However, Queen Camilla, an avid gardener herself, has shown a keen interest in taking over her husband's patronage.
On Feb 5, Charles revealed that he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed type of cancer and would be stepping down from his public royal duties to undergo treatment.
The king reportedly continued to work behind the scenes and held private meetings for several months. He officially resumed his public engagements on April 30, making a visit to a cancer hospital in London with Camilla, according to 'PEOPLE.'
