Simone Biles' Mother Still Gets Nervous When Her Daughter Competes: 'Could Hardly Wait For It To Be Over With'
Simone Biles's mom will never stop being worried about her daughter.
Biles, the most decorated gymnast of all time, is poised to make yet another historic appearance at the upcoming Paris Olympics. Fresh off her ninth national championship win earlier this month, Biles continues to demonstrate her unparalleled skill and resilience.
Despite her many accolades, according to 'PEOPLE,' Biles' mother Nellie Biles still worries while watching her daughter compete.
Nellie, who was present during Simone's recent national championship victory, expressed the intense anxiety she feels during competitions.
"I could hardly wait for it to be over with," she admitted. She shared that whenever she watches her daughter she is just hoping for her to be safely done. "All I'm thinking about and praying for is that she stays safe and that she ends that routine."

During the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Simone withdrew from the competition to focus on her mental health, according to 'CNN.'
"It was devastating," Nellie said. "After her vaulting, she called me and then mentioned that she couldn't do it anymore."

"My words to Simone were, 'Don't do it. Don't feel like you need to push yourself because that's the last thing I need is to see you injure yourself on television and I'm not going to be there,' " Nellie said. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, Simone's family was unable to attend the Tokyo Olympics in person.
The Paris Olympics will be different, as Simone's family will reportedly attend to support her in person. For Nellie, her presence is crucial.
"The important thing is to be there for Simone and making sure that she understands that her family is there giving her full support," she said. "And I am going to be really happy and probably shedding a few tears just because I'm going to be so emotional."
