Julie Delpy is finalizing a deal to script an adaptation of the best-selling, Marcella Acocella memoir Cancer Vixen: A True Story for HBO, Deadline reported Tuesday.

Cate Blanchett will be playing the lead role in the story of a cancer survivor who is pulled away from her exciting life as a young cartoonist in Manhattan, all-set to get married. The Academy award winning-actress will play Acocella, a cartoonist for magazines like the New Yorker and Glamour that was about to get married when she was suddenly diagnosed with breast cancer, sending her life into a maelstrom. The story takes us through Acocella's 11-month battle with cancer.

Delpy's most recently co-wrote Before Midnight with Ethan Hawke and director Richard Linklater. She has previously written for, an acted in, a number of films like 2 Days in Paris, 2 Days in New York, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset and the Countess.

Blanchett gave her most recent performance in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine. The actress acts as an executive producer on Cancer Vixen alongside Maven Pictures partners Trudie Styler and Celine Rattray (Girl Most Likely, The Bell Jar). It will be Blanchett's first time developing a film for television and also her first time collaborating with Delpy on a project.

Blanchett's first campaign as Armani's spokesperson and model (the deal was worth $10 million) was also revealed Tuesday. She is seen in the ad posing by Armani's new fragrance, Si. The headshot features her with windswept hair and minimal makeup posing beside a bottle of the Italian fashion house's latest fragrance.
