'Saltburn' Vinyl Soundtrack With Actual Bath Water Sends Social Media Into A Frenzy
"Saltburn" fans can now get the movie's soundtrack on vinyl with a side of "bath water."
On Thursday, fans went wild after Blood Records unveiled its latest vinyl LP, "Music From The Motion Picture Saltburn (Bath Water Edition)."
Retailing for £45 ($58), the vinyl LP featuring the black comedy psychological thriller's soundtrack consists of a clear plastic disc filled with what appears to be soapy water, as seen in a video shared by Blood Records on TikTok and Instagram.
The bathtub scene involving Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi's characters has become one of "Saltburn's" most iconic moments since it premiered in November 2023 and was described by director Emerald Fennell to People as "the sexiest thing I've ever seen in my life."
In the provocative scene, Oliver (Keoghan) sees Felix (Elordi) having a moment of intimacy in the tub. After Felix is done bathing, Oliver drinks the leftover bathwater.
The announcement of a "bath water"-filled vinyl LP immediately sent social media users across TikTok, Instagram and X, formerly Twitter, into a frenzy, with comments about the record ranging from "genius" to "unhinged."
"Oh, what a thrill! The 'Saltburn' soundtrack on vinyl, like a warm bath of nostalgia!" one X user commented.
"I didn't even like 'Saltburn,' but that album is genius," one user on TikTok wrote under Blood Records' post.
"That is FOUL. I need it," a different person quipped.
Some had questions about the origins of the "bath water" used in the making of the vinyl LPs.
"Is it, like, authentic or...?" one TikTok user asked, to which another helpfully added, "Right out from the actor."
Another user had a similar question, writing: "[Whose] bath water is the important question...Jacob Elordi's?"
"Does Jacob Elordi, um, *come* with it too?!" another asked.
Many others wasted no time pre-ordering the "Saltburn" soundtrack vinyl edition.
"I'm ashamed of how quickly I ordered this," a TikTok user admitted.
Another commented: "[I've] never bought something so fast."
According to Bad World, the vinyl LP features 13 tracks, including "Sound of the Underground" by Girls Aloud, "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers, "Murder on the Dancefloor" by Sophie Ellis-Bextor, "Loneliness" by Tomcraft, "This Modern Love" by Bloc Party and "No Cars Go" by Arcade Fire.
"Hang Me Up to Dry" by Cold War Kids, "Perfect (Exceeder)" by DJ Mason (as Mason) vs Princess Superstar, "Time To Pretend" by MGMT and "You're Gorgeous" by Babybird were also included.
The cover of the "Saltburn" record features its main cast members, including Keoghan, Elordi and Rosamund Pike.
On its website, Blood Records said it produces pressed vinyl records that "push the boundaries of what's possible with the format."
It has also released other liquid-filled vinyl records from music artists such as The 1975.
"Music From The Motion Picture Saltburn (Bath Water Edition)" will be released on Sept. 29.
