Iman Shumpert Wants Child Support Reduced Because Ex-Teyana Taylor Makes Double Than Him
Iman Shumpert, a retired NBA player, is seeking a revision of his child support agreement asserting his estranged wife, Teyana Taylor, earns twice his income.
Shumpert, who previously played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, has filed a motion to reduce his monthly payments.
Taylor, a singer, actress and dancer, filed for divorce last year, though the couple has not yet finalized their separation. As they navigate their way through this tumultuous period, financial responsibilities and child support have become points of contention.
According to 'TMZ,' Shumpert, 33, has been providing $8,000 per month in child support for their two children; Junie, 8, and Rue, 3. However, he now argues that this amount is no longer fair given their respective incomes.
However, Taylor attests that, prior to the beginning of their divorce proceedings, she was made to foot the bill for $200,000 dollars of home renovations. The Harlem native claims she began renovations three years ago, and claims her estranged husband withdrew $4 million from their shared account.

According to Shumpert's recent filing, his monthly income before taxes is approximately $47,981. While he was once making over $48 million in contracts, he has not played basketball professionally since 2021.
Taylor's income before taxes is around $93,885. The stark difference has led him to request a reduction in his child support payments, as he believes the current arrangement does not reflect their financial realities.
Shumpert continues to cover health insurance payments for "major" medical expenses for their children, but insists that all other healthcare costs should be evenly split between the two parents.
