"It's just so crazy — what is it like having a dude running around out there with your name?" Rogan, 56, asked. "Like if there was a rapper out there named 'Joe Rogan'... I would be like, 'What the f**k?' "
Freeway responded by acknowledging the bold move, questioning Rick Ross' — real name William Leonard Roberts II — motives as to why he wouldn't ask him first and why he never "paid homage" to his legacy.
"He won't even admit that he [Rick Ross] stole the name," Freeway claimed. "He tells people that he invented the name. Like, how the f**k do you invent the name? Throw a few million dollars to Instagram and Facebook...[the] radio station and everybody forgets about that."
Freeway Ricky Ross, born Ricky Donnell Ross, attempted to sue the rapper for $10 million, but lost due to his criminal history, which also kept him from trademarking the already-famous moniker, 'Miami New Times' reports.
Now in an ironic turn of events, 'Allhiphop' reported that Freeway owes the rapstar $1 million over his own name in order to pay the rapper's legal fees.
The media outlet also alleged that the "Maybach Music" mogul visited Freeway in prison and asked to use his name. When Freeway refused, the rapper allegedly took the name anyway.
Freeway Ricky Ross was known for the drug empire he established in Los Angeles in the 1980s. Despite being sentenced to life in prison, that term was cut short following an appeal, and Ross was released in 2009.
According to 'Boxing Scene,' Ross launched a boxing management company, Team Freeway Boxing, in January 2022.
During his appearance on Rogan's podcast, he announced he owns a marijuana dispensary.
