Dictator Besties: Putin Gifts Kim Jong Un $300,000 Aurus Limousine, Russian Dagger
Vladimir Putin gave North Korean leader Kim Jong Un several special gifts as the Russian president made his first visit to Pyongyang in nearly 25 years.
On Wednesday, Putin presented Kim with a Russian-made Aurus limousine, a Kremlin aide told Russia's state news agency Tass.
The Aurus limousine, which has been dubbed the "Russian Rolls-Royce," reportedly costs £250,000 ($317,000), The Telegraph reported.
Presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov said Kim was also given "an admiral's dagger and a very beautiful tea set."
In return for the gifts, Kim gave his fellow leader several artwork depicting Putin, including busts.
The Kremlin aide described Kim's gifts as "very good presents" and the artwork as "rather skillful."
Putin was welcomed to North Korea Wednesday with lavish ceremonies that featured stallions, balloons, and huge posters of the two leaders plastered across buildings in Pyongyang, the BBC reported.
After their one-to-one meeting, Putin and Kim were photographed taking the limo out for a spin.
The North Korean leader could be seen behind the wheel as he chatted with the Russian president, who sat in the passenger seat.

At one point, they switched spots, and Putin drove the car with Kim sitting beside him.
According to the Russian state news agency, Putin and Kim traveled several miles through a park before getting out of the car and taking a stroll along the grounds.
The Aurus limousine, which is the Russian leader's official presidential car, marked another notable addition to Kim's large luxury car collection.
He also received an Aurus model from Putin in February, months after Kim's visit to the Vostochny Cosmodrome in Russia's Amur region, Tass reported.
In addition, Kim reportedly owns a Maybach limousine, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, a Lexus sports utility vehicle and several Mercedes cars despite the U.N. ban on the export of luxury goods to North Korea.
During their meeting, Putin expressed his gratitude to Kim for his "consistent and unwavering support for Russian policy, including in the Ukrainian direction."
Kim, meanwhile, said that Russia and North Korea were "entering a period of new flowering" in terms of relations and described Russia as his nation's "most honest friend."
