Sean Penn Denies Rumors He Once Hit Madonna With A Baseball Bat
Sean Penn is still fighting off thirty year old rumors.
During an interview with the 'New York Times,' Penn confronted long-standing allegations that he struck his ex-wife, singer Madonna, with a baseball bat. The rumor has persisted for decades, even though the couple divorced over 30 years ago.
Penn, 63, and Madonna were married from 1985 to 1989. During this time, the two were known for having a rocky relationship fueled by fights and conflicts which eventually led to their divorce.
Penn revealed the extent to which the physical abuse rumors have impacted his life, recounting a harrowing incident with law enforcement. "I had a freaking SWAT team come to my house," he said. "I said, 'I'm not coming out. I'm going to finish my breakfast.' The next thing I knew, windows were being broken all around the house, and they came in. They had me in handcuffs."

He also recalled a baffling moment when a woman he spent the night with inquired about the alleged baseball bat incident. "I didn't know what the h**l she was talking about," he said.
The 'Mystic River' actor underscored the absurdity of the rumor with a hypothetical scenario: "Now, I think it's fair to say that I'm not the biggest guy in the world. But if I hit Mike Tyson in the head with a baseball bat, he's going to the hospital."
Penn attested that, despite their past, he and Madonna, 65, remain on good terms and that "she's still someone I love."

According to 'The Blast,' Madonna has publicly supported Penn's denial of the abuse allegations.
In 2015, Penn filed a $10 million defamation lawsuit against Lee Daniels. Penn accused the TV producer of falsely accusing him of hitting women, per 'Variety.'
Madonna defended Penn, admitting that "While we certainly had more than one heated argument... Sean has never struck me, 'tied me up,' or physically assaulted me."
She went on to describe her ex-husband as a "caring, compassionate individual."
