Prince Harry To Be Given ‘Pat Tillman Award For Service’ At 2024 ESPYs Hosted By Serena Williams
Prince Harry is set to be awarded with the Pat Tillman Award by tennis icon and legendary female athlete Serena Williams next month at the 2024 ESPYs.
The Pat Tillman Award is "given to a person with a strong connection to sports who has served others in a way that echoes the legacy of the former NFL player and U.S. Army Ranger, Pat Tillman," per 'ESPN'.
The Duke of Sussex, 39, co-founded and is heavily involved in the Invictus Games — an international sporting event catering to injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans from around the world.
The prince served in the British armed forces for a decade before co-founding the Invictus Games Foundation, alongside the Ministry of Defense, and with the assistance of Sir Keith Mills.
The ESPYs — Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly — ceremony is a glitzy event set to be hosted by one of the most decorated female athletes of all time, 23x Grand Slam winner Serena Williams, 42.
The event recognizes individuals and teams athletic achievements and other sports-related accolades from the calendar year. The glitzy ceremony will broadcast live on July 11 at 8 p.m. EDT/PDT on ABC from sunny Los Angeles.
According to 'ABC', the star-studded event will relive the highlight moments of the year, honor leading athletes and performances, and unite the sports industry's biggest stars and fan favorites.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also awarded the President's Award at the NAACP Image Awards back in 2022 during its 53rd annual award ceremony for their distinguished work in public service in racial and social justice.
Meanwhile, it was reported that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are "not wanted" back in the royal family and that the Duke of Sussex is "running out of time" to get back in the good graces of the king.
