Angela Simmons Apologizes After Outrage At Her Gun-Shaped Purse
Angela Simmons wrote a lengthy apology pleading for forgiveness after carrying a gun-shaped purse to the 2024 BET Awards.
Social media was less than pleased at Simmons' decision to carry what pop culture calls a "blicky" to the carpet citing her tone-deafness, as her boyfriend Big Jook — who is also Yo Gotti's brother — was a victim of gun violence.
Rev Run's daughter was seen on the carpet in a glitzy halter dress and sparkly heels, in addition to toting a matching bedazzled green pistol clutch bag, which she so openly pointed towards the camera.

"When I chose the purse, I believed it was cute and unique, and I made a poor decision in using it as an accessory to amplify my beauty," Simmons, 36, wrote in her instagram statement. "I deeply regret that this item, which symbolizes a gun, was inappropriate and insensitive, especially given my personal and community experiences with gun violence.
She continued: "I have personally lost my partner, the father of my child, to gun violence, and I have witnessed its devastating impact on my community in Southeast Queens. My work with Erica Ford, a leading gun violence activist, and my own organization that creates programs to reduce gun violence and helps those directly impacted by the epidemic, have always been about making peace a lifestyle."
"To anyone who was hurt or offended by my actions, I offer my deepest apologies," she added in her lengthy explanation and apology letter. She concluded by declaring her dedication to "making peace a reality" and acknowledging that the incident was "a misstep."

Social media seems to be on the fence about the incident and the apology, with one fellow user stating: "Yo Gotti has turned this preacher kid into a gun purse totting city girl."
"I don't get the outrage over Angela Simmons' gun purse...besides her looking awkward and doofy," a second X user commented. "Did Angela Simmons really apologize for holding that gun? No one was upset it was just cringe [laughing emoji]," a third user chimed in.
36-year-old Simmons rose to prominence following the release of her father's hit TV series, 'Run's House' back in 2005, airing for five seasons.
The Hollis, Queens native is a producer and actress, known for 'Supermodel' (2015) and 'Pressure Makes Diamonds', focusing on women's empowerment.
