Britney Spears has once again made headlines with talk of her hair.
According to "The Blast," the pop icon posted a reel on Instagram on July 1st with the caption, "Cut all my hair off and I think I'm going shorter." The video features multiple shots of Spears fluffing her long blonde hair.
The length of her hair left fans questioning whether the cut had already taken place or if it was imminent.
While posts about a haircut may not be breaking news for just any star, Spears's history of headline-making hair choices still ring sharply in the minds of many.

For many, this announcement evokes memories of February 2007, a tumultuous period in Spears' life. In a widely publicized moment, Britney walked into a hair salon, took the clippers, and shaved her head.
At the time, she explained, "I went into a hair salon, and I took the clippers, and I shaved off all my hair." This act was seen as a cry for help and a symbol of her rebellion against the intense scrutiny she faced.

The head-shaving incident marked the beginning of a highly publicized downward spiral, culminating in her being placed under a conservatorship in 2008. In a piece the princess of pop wrote that was published by "PEOPLE" that same year, Britney revealed the deeper reasons behind her drastic decision to shave her head.
She shared, "I'd been eyeballed so much growing up. I'd been looked up and down, had people telling me what they thought of my body, since I was a teenager. Shaving my head and acting out were my ways of pushing back."
