Jennifer Lopez Fuels Ben Affleck Divorce Rumors With Throwback Breakup Song MV With Controversial Lyrics
Jennifer Lopez's recent post on Instagram fueled the rumors that her marriage to Ben Affleck is on the rocks.
The "Atlas" actress took to Instagram on Sunday to share a throwback music video for her 2021 hit "Cambia el Paso." The breakup song is about empowerment and changing one's circumstances. She released it after her split from Alex Rodriguez in April 2021, hinting that she was ready to start a new chapter in her life.
In the clip, Lopez, 54, can be seen dancing as she playfully rolls around on the beach in a silver bustier and denim shorts. The short video also featured controversial lyrics that seemingly fueled the ongoing divorce rumors involving her and Affleck.
"Her life is better now without him ... she doesn't need anyone to be well / She does not fail, she does not fail," part of the lyrics read when translated from Spanish to English, the Daily Mail reported.
"He doesn't deserve to have her in his arms," another line read.
Lopez uploaded the video to celebrate the song's anniversary. But the song's lyrics only fueled the rumors about her alleged strained marriage with Affleck.
An insider recently claimed that Lopez's mom, Guadalupe Rodriguez, and sisters, Lynda and Leslie Anne, want her to end her marriage with the "Gone Girl" actor. Her mom allegedly wanted her to cut her losses and move on from Affleck, and her siblings shared the same sentiments.
"Jennifer's mom told her, 'Cut your losses and move on to avoid getting any deeper in this mess,'" the source told the Daily Mail. "She told her that she's wasted years believing that Ben was some kind of knight in shining armor. He was not the person she built him up to be. It's taken too much of a toll on her, and because of this, she has lost sight of who she is and what she stands for."
Lopez's family members wanted her to be "happy." So, they reportedly wanted her to "file for divorce first and get on with her life."
Lopez and Affleck are still seen together from time to time. They also still wear their wedding bands on different outings. However, they have been living separately and put their $60 million marital home for sale. They also spent the Fourth of July weekend apart.
The "Marry Me" actress spent the holiday in the Hamptons. She was seen shopping for rose bushes with her manager, Benny Medina, and enjoying a bike ride with her vocal coach, Stevie Mackey. Meanwhile, Affleck remained in Los Angeles. He was seen arriving at his Beverly Hills office on Sunday.
