A man named Michael Fleming was faced with a felony robbery charge after an unusual bank visit in Sumter County.

The 41-year-old man reportedly tried to withdraw 1 cent on June 29 at the Chase Bank on US-441 in Lady Lake, according to Fox 35 Orlando. He allegedly walked into the bank, filled out a withdrawal slip for 1 cent and handed it to a teller.

However, when the bank teller reportedly told him he could not withdraw a penny, he responded, "So you want me to say the other word?"

Per the arrest affidavit from the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, the bank teller called the cops out of fear of possible violence from Fleming.

While the other details about the alleged conversation between the bank teller and Fleming were not revealed in the affidavit, the deputies said they had probable cause to believe that the man violated Florida's robbery laws.

After the report was shared online, social media users expressed their thoughts and opinions about the issue.

"I'm really sad for him, I know that it's his choice to do things like this, of course, there is a price to pay. But for him to not even know how to use the machine correctly is really sad, we can't kick people when they're down. God help him and allow him to get his life back together," commented one Facebook user.

"OMG. He was probably hungry or needed a place to stay, so jail was easier than the hot streets," opined another.

"You see, we have weird stuff happening here in Florida, too, along with homeless people," said a different commenter.

Meanwhile, someone else wrote, "Scht, you should have given him the penny in your shoe and sent him on his way."
