Noelani Petero revealed how the viral video meme from her "The Face Australia" stint impacted her mental health.

In a compilation of Petero's posts by The Neighborhood Talk, she reportedly said, "I went into psychosis, was hospitalized, wanted my life to end and was homeless due to my state of mental health."

"I have a permanent mental injury from this trauma. I've worked my a** off to rebuild my life since advocating for BI and POC folk in my industry."

"I hope that a traumatic moment isn't exploited and then aired globally 10 years later," she continued.

According to her, she "was manipulated by producers seconds before going on, coerced in the journal parts the next day. Starved, left in the cold and almost fainted earlier in the day with zero duty of care. I won the runway challenge, but it never aired."

She added that because of what was shown about her on "The Face Australia," she got canceled from the fashion industry.

In a reel she posted for Mental Health Awareness Month in May, she talked about the online popularity she had after her viral stint on "The Face Australia" and its effect on her mental health.

"When 'The Face' aired 10 years ago, [it] caused a significant trauma that I have an array of mental health issues that I still experience to this day, and [it] will most likely be lifelong," she revealed.

"However, I did work myself, especially my mental health side. Everything I've realized is that I have strength in myself and I want to inspire anyone that's going through their journey. I'm still standing and it does get easier."

In another reel, she said she is now an R&B triple threat recording artist under the artist name MONRXE.

"I have a lot of music on the way for you later this year actually. But I'm also a topliner and a lyricist, and for many years before my MONRXE debut, I worked in the underground jazz scene as an improvisational jazz vocalist," she told her social media followers.

"But most importantly, I also additionally work for two incredible [non-profit] organizations. One is called OneofOne and the other is called Black Music Alliance Australia (BMAA). OneofOne empowers women and gender nonconforming people within the Australian music industry so I get to interview them, listen to their stories and share their stories with the rest of the world, like you."

"At BMAA, we push for equity, advocacy and education in Black music, and represent those part of the African diaspora," she continued.
