Timothy M. Haslett Jr. was charged with the first degree murder of Jaynie Crosdale.

Prosecutor Zachary Thompson of Clay County called his alleged physical, psychological, and sexual violence as "brutal" and "barbaric," per 'The Kansas City Star.'

The body of Jaynie Crosdale was found dead in a barrel in June 2023. It is presumed that Haslett shot Crosdale, then 36-years-old, while she was in the barrel. Pictures were found of Crosdale in the basement dungeon built by Haslett. Furthermore, barrels similar to the barrel that Crosdale was found in have been seen at Haslett's Excelsior Springs home.

According to 'The Washington Post, Haslett had a documented history of torturing Black women and sharing misogynistic comments on the internet. He reportedly built a dungeon in his home where he kept the women he tortured.

In 2022, a woman escaped from the bunker where she was being kept. The woman explained that she had been locked away there for about a month. She approached a nearby house with a chain around her neck and scars that proved visible injuries. Her identity is being kept private.

When Haslett, 42, was first brought to court, he pleaded not guilty. Due to evidence that could substantiate the charges, Haslett was only charged with nine counts during his 2022 court appearance, including aggravated assault, kidnapping, and rape. There was not enough evidence to substantiate that he had murdered anyone.

He had made several comments online boasting about his illegal and inhumane actions. He posted that he had killed two Black women and had built a dungeon where he could "punish" them.
