Alyssa Milano Reacts To Shannen Doherty's Death Amid Feud: 'World Is Less Without Her'
Alyssa Milano is paying tribute to Shannen Doherty following her frenemy and former "Charmed" co-star's death.
Doherty's longtime publicist announced that the actress died Saturday after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 53.
In a statement addressing her late co-star's passing, Milano said that while she shared a "complicated" relationship with Doherty, she believes the world has experienced a great loss with her death.
"It's no secret that Shannen and I had a complicated relationship, but at its core [she] was someone I deeply respected and was in awe of," Milano told Page Six Sunday. "She was a talented actress, beloved by many, and the world is less without her."
"My condolences to all who loved her," she concluded.
On Sunday, Doherty's longtime publicist, Leslie Sloane, exclusively confirmed to People that the actress "lost her battle with cancer" on Saturday after "many years of fighting the disease."
"The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace," Sloane added.
Doherty was first diagnosed with invasive breast cancer back in 2015. By November 2023, it had become stage 4 cancer and had spread to her bones.
The actress was best known for her roles in "Charmed" and "Beverly Hills, 90210."
Doherty co-starred with Milano and Holly Marie Combs in the witchcraft fantasy series from 1998 to 2001.
Doherty exited "Charmed" after the Season 3 finale, which ended with her character, Prue Halliwell, getting killed off.
The original "Charmed" cast's feud made headlines back in December 2023 when Doherty and Combs alleged that Milano got the former fired from the show.
In the episode of Doherty's podcast "Let's Be Clear," Combs, citing producer Jonathan Levin, claimed that Milano forced the producers to choose between her and Doherty and threatened to sue the show for hostile workplace environment allegations.
While addressing the claims at MegaCon Orlando in February, Milano did not directly confirm or deny them but said the allegations made her "sad."
"I am the most sad that a show that has meant so much to so many people has been tarnished by a toxicity that is still to this day almost a quarter of a century later still happening," Milano said. "I'm sad that people can't move past it."
Doherty later doubled down on her comments about her former co-star.
"At this point in my life with my health diagnosis -- I'm sorry if I start crying -- with fighting horrific disease every day of my life, it is also incredibly important to me that the truth actually be told as opposed to the narrative that others put out there for me," she said at MegaCon.
