Remy Ma Uses Maiden Name On Song Credit Amid Papoose Divorce Rumors And Alleged Cheating Scandal
As divorce rumors between Remy Ma and Papoose continue to swirl, Remy reverted back to her maiden name.
In a new track, "Outta Control," in collaboration with Terror Squad boss Fat Joe, Remy was credited on the single with her maiden name over her estranged husband's last name, Mackie.
'The Neighborhood Talk' dug up some musical records, and found that in 2017, the rapper listed herself as Remy Mackie. However, she's listed herself as Remy Kioni Smith on the Cool & Dre produced track.
Remy and her husband made headlines last year when rumors sparked surrounding their relationship, alleging that Remy cheated on Papoose, real name Shamele Mackie, after 16 years together.
The two came together after they were introduced by DJ Kay Slay back in 2004. As budding rapstars on the come up, their union would turn to something deeper, as they eventually married in 2008.
The same year, Remy, 44, would be sentenced to six years in prison after shooting a woman outside a New York night club over a beef involving money. Although she maintained the gunplay was an accident, she would be found guilty on assault, weapons, and attempted coercion charges.
Papoose was celebrated for holding Remy down during her bid, however, rumors of Remy's alleged cheating left fans disappointed — breaking the fantasy that the two were the perfect hip-hop couple.
Fans claim Remy's alleged affair with battle rapper Eazy The Block Captain — a longtime participant in Chrome 23 live rap matches — led to an alleged scuffle between him and Papoose. However, the reason behind the reported scuffle was never confirmed.
The two were last seen together in March during Pap's 46th birthday party, where fans were concerned about Remy's purported ice cold body language, per 'HotNewHipHop.'
In 2018, Remy and her husband Papoose had their daughter, affectionately nicknamed "The Golden Child."
