King Charles Delivers Speech On Modernizing Britain, Viewers Call Out 'Diamond Encrusted’ Ensemble
Striving for improvement, the new government in the United Kingdom is focusing on modernizing their society, but social media is cynical about the presentation.
On Wednesday, King Charles III addressed the nation with plans to modernize border security, enhance economic growth, the cost of living, and wealth creation, reading a speech written by the Labour government he authorized.
"Securing economic growth will be a fundamental mission," the king said, per 'ABC News.' "My Government will seek a new partnership with both business and working people and help the country move on from the recent cost of living challenges by prioritizing wealth creation for all communities."
After 74 years, the grand U.K. ceremony marks the start of a new parliament, per the news outlet, in addition to the laws the new government plans to embark on since the center-left Labour Party, Starmer, was elected in July.
"King Charles has the audacity to sit here talking about the cost of living wearing his diamond encrusted throne against the gold plated everything backdrop," one user penned in a video posted to Twitter, now known as X. "We definitely live in the matrix," a second responded.

The event took place in the Westminster Cathedral. The king wore the Imperial State Crown originally made for Queen Victoria.
The new agenda included "more jobs and turbocharging building of houses and infrastructure."
